Fortuna is a small town located only 25 kilometres from Murcia, the capital of the region. Because of its geographical situation, Fortuna boasts excellent communications with the whole region of Murcia and the neighbour region of Alicante. Also located only 45 minutes from the beaches like Torrevieja, Guardamar, Lo Pagán, Los Alcazares, etc…

Fortuna has warm winters with an average temperature of 12º and hot and dry summers with an average temperature of 30º are the main characteristics of the climate in this area.

The history and the remains found in Fortuna say that Fortuna was a health spring during the Roman occupation of the Iberian Peninsula.  The Pilgrimages from Cartagena (Cartagonova) to Fortuna were very famous in that time to adore the Ninfas (in the Cueva Negra springs) and to enjoy the wonderful curative waters.

The well-known waters spring forth at 53º, they contain sodium, chloride, sulphate, fluoride and radioactive properties, which make them excellent for curing.

The municipality of Fortuna stands out by its vast horizons and its contrast between arid landscapes and green palm trees. The municipality is surrounded by important natural areas. To the north is the Sierra de la Pila Regional Park, a mountainous massif that is part of the Betic mountain ranges, while to the south is the Protected Landscape of Ajauque Wetland and Rambla Salada.
